50 Trainees in Saudi Specialty Certificate Program Begin Leadership Journey

50 trainees in the Saudi Specialty Certificate Program have begun their training journey in the "Mulhem" program launched by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in order to create health leaders and enable them to possess the fundamentals for change and inspiration, as well as the ability to positively influence the domain of health.

The "Mulhem" program, which is supervised by the SCFHS's Executive Administration for Academic Affairs and implemented by the Health Leadership Academy, is the very first program to empower trainees in the Saudi Specialty Certificate, diplomas and fellowships programs. It seeks to provide trainees with intensive doses of the various leadership skills and competencies necessary to lead health teams, with 40 hours of in-person and remote training over a period of four months.

Through the "Mulhem" program, SCFHS seeks to make a qualitative and valuable leap at the level of trainees of the Saudi Specialty Certificate, diploma, fellowship programs and general specialties. This is represented in developing future leaders in the health sector who are qualified and capable of leading successfully.

The program is divided into different tracks, including: the future leaders track, the trainees' leadership seminars track, and the leadership seminars track. These tracks contain conferences, a series of seminars and specialized training sessions. All these tracks end with the last track “Horizon”, which is a supporting training journey with virtual conferences, in-person seminars, orientation sessions, projects and leadership tasks.

During the trainee’s journey in the “Mulhem” program, they learn about the competencies, skills and behaviors necessary for leadership at the individual level. They also work on identifying strengths and weaknesses, developing an individual improvement plan, and comparing different leadership styles and the roles used to lead health teams. Furthermore, they practice effective communication skills, ways to increase leadership impact, health care quality fundamentals, and patient safety principles. Moreover, they exercise translating knowledge to increase responsibility and improve patient-centered care, as well as establishing a strategy for health practitioner wellbeing and continued growth.
